Sexual Health Information

Conway School District is required by state law to provide sexual health education to students.  We do this through age appropriate curriculum created specifically for schools.  The Conway School Board adopted the "FLASH" curriculum after a thorough review and recommendations from the curriculum committee made up of staff and parents.  In October of 2021 the board reaffirmed the use of the curriculum with the additional lessons on Bystander Training and Affirmative Consent that have been approved by OSPI.

There are many misconceptions about sexual health and what school districts teach to their students.  We encourage you to review the required topics at the OSPI website and to check out the FLASH website for information about the curriculum and the research behind the lessons PRIOR to viewing the actual lessons.  If you have further questions you can email the school at office, health teacher, or school principal.

Each year students in 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th grades will be taught specific lessons during their health class.  Prior to lessons starting families will be notified when the instruction will start and will be given an opportunity to review the lessons and ask questions about the topics and instruction.

Lessons are taught in conjunction with a local health professional in a neutral manner focusing on science and biology.

Parents may opt their student out of all of the content or specific lessons by contacting the school office.

This link will take you to the sexual health lessons Conway teaches as required by state law.

Please review the the sexual health lessons PRIOR to looking at the curriculum to ensure you understand which lessons are taught at specific grades.
